Rockstar’s Surprise Move: GTA 6 Trailer Revealed Early, Unveiling Lucia and 2025 Release!

Rockstar Games surprised fans by unveiling the Grand Theft Auto 6 reveal trailer a day ahead of schedule, confirming the highly anticipated game’s release in 2025. The early release was likely prompted by a leaked full trailer on X (formerly Twitter), shared by the now-suspended account GTA6TrailerLeak.

The revelation introduces Lucia, the first female protagonist in the franchise, a detail that had been hinted at in previous leaks and rumors. Originally slated for release on December 5 at 9 am ET, the trailer was leaked approximately 16 hours in advance, creating a buzz on social media and setting a new Twitter record.

In response to the leak, Rockstar swiftly released the full trailer on YouTube. Set to the sounds of Tom Petty’s “Love is a Long Road,” the video features captivating shots of a swamp bridge, the Vice City Penitentiary, and introduces Lucia with a prison dialogue scene. The trailer showcases the game’s setting – Vice City – through various locations, including beaches, marshes, a nightclub, and the Viceport Boatyard. The iconic Ocean Drive along Vice City Beach is also highlighted.

Notably, the trailer hints at two playable characters, possibly a couple. While Lucia is named, the male protagonist remains unidentified, with past leaks referring to him as Jason. This installment marks a significant milestone as the first in the GTA franchise to feature a female protagonist.

The trailer concludes by unveiling the official GTA 6 logo, an outrun-style Roman numeral for six, and confirming the game’s release in 2025. Take-Two’s financial reports align with a Q1 2025 launch, coinciding with the end of the fiscal year. However, speculation around an April 1, 2025 release, teased in a GTA Online preview, adds an element of uncertainty, especially considering the date’s association with April Fools’ Day.
